About

We stand on the shoulders of giants. I am no exception. What I learnt from books, conferences, water cooler discussions, production outages, complex consulting projects, YouTube, Stack Overflow and other places has been condensed and documented here. Some ideas are my own (obviously inspired by something I learned) but most of the content is a mash-up of various sources.

This website/blog/what-have-you started after I realized I was forgetting technical concepts, learnt as part of my professional and/or personal life, faster than I could spell them.

It made sense to document my learnings engagingly and effectively using visuals and laid-back narratives.

Why Hestia?

In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Hestia (/ˈhɛstiə, ˈhɛstʃə/; Greek: Ἑστία, meaning "hearth" or "fireside") is the virgin goddess of the hearth and the home.

She was the Goddess invoked when families and friends would sit around a warm fire on a cold night, and share stories about their lives, history and culture. Her aura made me harken back to the days when humans spent time with others of their species, strengthening connections and increasing knowledge.

She is my girl and the inspiration behind the name for this blog/website/what-have-you.
